Since my first Rolfing session with Catherine in April, 2018, I have experienced ease, further range of motion, more flexibility/strength, and no more strains/pulls in my neck. I'm very active and dance regularly, which involves a lot of turning/whirling. This used to exacerbate an already chronic issue.
Catherine creates a safe space, which I deeply appreciate. She's warm, strong, attuned, and knows when to speak and when to be silent. Truly masterful in her craft. I was instantaneously comfortable with her and appreciative of the thoroughness with which she works. It was uncanny how compelled I felt to share my heart with her as she was working on me. Yet, there were no accidents that what I was sharing was connected to the pain I was experiencing in my neck. I gained such clarity on past blocks that were contributing to the chronic, perpetual problems I was experiencing - emotional and physiologically.
Catherine worked on me when I was at my worst. Within one hour, I went from a pain level of 10 (I could barely turn my head) to a 2 with full range of motion. When I returned to my chiropractor a few days later, she was shocked by how little of an adjustment she got out of my neck area. (There was nothing for her to do to my neck - this was a first.) She said, "Wow. Your neck seems to be realigning."
I am forever grateful to Catherine for illuminating the fact that my neck issues are heal-able. There is hope. Not of mere pain maintenance, but of hitting a new and higher default-level of comfort/ease.
I can't recommend her more emphatically than in this letter. Before she worked on me, I had to sit out of a dance class due to the pain. Within an hour after our session, I was dancing full out as if the injury never happened.
I've been singing her praises to several friends since I returned to NJ. My only grievance is that I wish I lived closer to Catherine to continue the work! Haven't found a healer of her caliber in my area. But, that's what airfare is for, right? If you live within 100 miles of her, she's worth it!
Catherine is a highly sensitive and gifted rolfer who knows how to listen to the inner voices of her clients, in such as a way as to make rolfing a powerful and healing experience. She is also uniquely capable at the level of the body and has a huge amount of knowledge regarding how the body moves, thus how it heals. I couldn't recommend her more highly.

First, some background: at 73, I have been walking the Flamenco (baile) road for nine+ years. I also added Zumba, Nia, and 5Rhythms to my dance repertoire. During that time, I have engaged the services of an excellent massage therapist, a second massage therapist specializing in Active Isolated Stretching and a physical trainer for gym workouts. The AIS therapist cleared up a problem with hip pain, probably psoas-connected, that kept me from driving a car more than thirty minutes or so before stretching the hip. She's on my regular appointment schedule. The other two did and do their jobs well.
Nevertheless, I felt the need for a different approach, as I continued to suffer from occasional plantar fasciitis (left foot) and overall lack of sufficient flexibility for Flamenco, particularly in the torso, upper back and shoulders. Having seen a demonstration of (somewhat extreme) Rolfing done on a friend some years earlier, I was aware of its potential, but rather put off by the pain the subject (a friend) of the demonstration reported. Still, it seemed promising, so I contacted Catherine Slattery and scheduled an appointment. Subsequently, I have been having her work on my aging body every four or five weeks. The first time a case of fasciitis coincided with a visit, she worked on that one foot for forty-five minutes or so; the following morning, the fasciitis was cleared up. Subsequent flare-ups have been greatly lessened as she continued to work on that foot.
She also successfully worked on a recurrent and elusive chest pain, apparently related to the point of connection of rib muscles with the sternum. Said episodic pain had been occurring for some forty-plus years, not responding to such treatments as I could find. I continue to schedule regular appointments for her notably pain-free technique.

This is the bodywork of my dreams. I've been waiting my whole life for this.
I feel you in your hands,
feeling me you are present.
And noticed or not,
we are conversing in a language you can’t speak in words,
though sometimes words too.
Open, release, breathe.
Something leads us
and we dance,
your hands and I,
leading and following.
I am so grateful.
Catherine is amazing!! It’s almost indescribable what she does. She has the most magical hands! My leg feels so much better. I'm in awe of what she does. I can highly recommend Rolfing to anyone who uses their body on the regular;) It’s loving yourself in a very healing way.
